The BCI achieves its ISO 9001 certification: strengthening quality and member value

The BCI is proud to announce that we have successfully achieved ISO 9001 certification – a globally recognised standard for quality management systems. This milestone marks an important step in our commitment to excellence, transparency, and continuous improvement in everything that we do.
What is ISO 9001 and why does it matter?
ISO 9001 is an internationally acknowledged benchmark for organizations seeking to consistently meet customer and regulatory requirements through effective quality management practices. At its core, it promotes a process-driven approach focused on risk-based thinking, strong leadership, and a culture of continuous improvement.
For The BCI, achieving ISO 9001 confirms that our internal processes are robust, efficient, and aligned with the highest standards. More importantly, it highlights BCI’s ongoing dedication to delivering value and trust to its global community of members and partners.
David Thorpe, BCI’s Executive Director said: “The BCI Global Board has over the past two years been engaged in improving our overall governance including a revision of our Articles and Bylaws and culminating now in opening our member-facing operations to external audit and review. We believe that with this accreditation we have achieved the high degree of transparency we promised chapter leaders and members we would do”
What does this mean for members?
Our members are at the heart of everything we do. ISO 9001 certification brings added assurance that:
BCI’s services and products meet rigorous quality standards, supporting your professional development and success.
We are committed to continual improvement, meaning we actively seek feedback and evolve to better serve the needs of the BC/resilience community.
BCI’s operations are efficient and accountable, ensuring consistency and responsiveness across all touchpoints.
By aligning with ISO 9001, the organization not only enhances operational excellence but also strengthens its credibility and global standing as a leader in business continuity and resilience.
Looking Ahead
Certification is not a one-time achievement—it is a continuous journey. Maintaining ISO 9001 means the BCI will regularly audit, review, and refine its processes to remain aligned with best practices and member expectations.
We see this as an opportunity to not only uphold the trust placed in the organizations but to raise the bar for quality across the profession.
As we celebrate this achievement, we extend our gratitude to our team, our members, and the wider community for their ongoing support and feedback. It is their engagement that drives The BCI forward.
Together, The BCI remains committed to excellence—for today, tomorrow, and the resilient future that aims to build together with the wider community.
