New BCI Midlands Chapter announcement
We are pleased to announce the creation of the BCI Midlands Chapter to support the region’s business continuity and resilience community.
This newly created Chapter merges previous individual Midlands Chapters into a single Chapter for better representation and so that members can benefit from a larger network that represents the whole region. The change aims to encourage greater collaboration, more sharing of best practice across a wider audience, and increased engagement in Chapter events.
The new Midlands Chapter is led by Rob Cooke MBCI and vice leader Jag Gogna MBCI who are supported by a pro-active committee and participation from the BCI Central Office. We would like to thank Brian Love, Scott Hughes, and the previous South Midlands chapter members for their hard work and dedication.
The newly formed committee is:
Rob Cooke MBCI: Leader
Jag Gogna MBCI: Vice leader
Helen Scott AMBCI: committee member
Lyndsey Orton MBCI: committee member
Andy Osborne MBCI: committee member
Russell Williams FBCI: committee member
Claire Powles MBCI: committee member
Rob Cooke: Leader
"I have over two decades of experience working in resilience across finance, manufacturing, retail, IT, energy, and the public sector. I was previously the Chapter Lead for the East Midlands Chapter, and a committee member for several Special Interest Groups. I have supported a number of BCI events such as BCI World, BCAW+R, conferences, webinars, research launches, and awards presentations.
Separately, the Midlands Chapters had started to see dwindling numbers and reduced committee engagement. By bringing them together I am hoping to grow the overall committee and develop bigger and better events to bring worthwhile content to the 650+ members in our collective region. My aim for the new Midlands Chapter is to promote resilience to others."
Jag Gogna: Vice leader
"I have a twenty-year career in business continuity and operational resilience and have been involved in the BCI’s Midlands Chapter since 2005. This merger will bring neighbouring postcodes together into a single Chapter to ensure good turnout of practitioners to our events.
A huge thanks to all past and present committee members for their contribution to the respective North, West, East, South Midlands. I look forward to continuing to contribute as Vice-Leader."
Claire Powles: Committee member
"I have 20+ years’ experience working in resilience across a variety of sectors globally and currently works for Gamma as their Head of Resilience. I enjoy sharing my experiences of implementing programmes from scratch utilising software and I’m an active mentor within the BCI’s mentoring programme.
I joined the East Midlands committee at the start of 2024 and look forward to having the opportunity to network and collaborate with more members as part of the merger."
Welcome to the new Midlands Chapter
Chapter leader Rob Cooke added:
"I would like to extend my thanks to all the past and present committee members from the disbanded Midlands Chapters. Your dedication to the BCI and its members has been invaluable in promoting resilience across the Midlands.
A warm welcome as well to the 650+ members of the Midlands Chapter. I encourage each of you to get involved and help us make this Chapter one of the most active and engaged in the BCI. Together, we can build a stronger, more resilient future. If you’re interested in joining me and my team on this journey, we would love to have you on board."
