Business Continuity is not just for large, global businesses. It is just as important for small businesses, public sector, and charities that may not have the resources to employ full time Business Continuity staff or hire consultants.

Small businesses are suffering the effects of climate change, supply chain crisis, the global pandemic, and changing consumer & buying habits just as much as larger organizations, yet it is often these smaller businesses that do not have the plans in place to deal with these incidents and the consequences can fatal.

This is why the BCI is today launching its Business Continuity Basics course. This short, self-paced eLearning course is designed to give those organizations a brief introduction as to the importance of Business Continuity. It will help them to start thinking about some of the threats and incidents that may affect their operations and some of the measures they can introduce to mitigate their impact. Helping them to become more resilient within their communities.

The course aims to give the student knowledge of:

  • What is meant by the term ‘Business Continuity’
  • Appreciate the importance of Business Continuity
  • Awareness of basic Business Continuity concepts
  • Understanding of some of the potential incidents that may impact their business & how to mitigate them.

This course can also be used as a way of embedding Business Continuity in larger organizations by allowing all staff the opportunity to take this short 20–30-minute course to understand the basic principles and how they could play a role within their own organization if an incident occurs.
