Advancing resilience through thought leadership: 2024 in review
In 2024, the BCI Thought Leadership (TL) team delivered a comprehensive programme of industry-leading research, exclusive member content, and advanced analysis providing business continuity and resilience practitioners with the insights they needed to navigate a challenging resilience landscape. Here’s a look back at the highlights from the past year and the team behind this impactful work.
An industry-leading research programme
In 2024 we produced 10 original reports featuring in-depth analysis drawn from primary qualitative and quantitative industry sources supported by secondary data. These reports offered actionable insights, practical takeaways, and predictions about the future of resilience, equipping practitioners with the tools to stay ahead.
This year we interviewed close to 90 practitioners to explore emerging trends and challenges. Our most popular reports included those focused on Crisis Communications, Operational Resilience, and Horizon Scanning.
Exclusive member-only content: keeping members in the know
To further benefit our members, we produced a series of exclusive white papers and in-depth articles on critical topics. This year’s content included the global PSTN switch-off, public sector water threats, the challenges of managing elections at an unprecedented scale, and the risks posed by deepfake technology.
News stories: Keeping the industry up-to-date with emerging news
Our team also produced a steady stream of weekly news pieces that kept the resilience community informed about the latest developments affecting the industry. The most-read topics in 2024 included cyber-attacks, IT disruption, emerging legislation, and ongoing effects of the climate crisis.
Elevating regional voices
This year, the Thought Leadership team worked closely with 39 Chapters and four Special Interest Groups, providing regionally tailored content that amplified regional perspectives within the global resilience community. We collaborated with Chapters to co-create content aimed at advancing resilience and sharing insights across diverse regions. By collaborating with our membership and boosting regional views, our content remained truly global.

The team also benefits from the contributions of Dr. Gianluca Riglietti, a seasoned researcher with a PhD from Politecnico di Milano. His expertise lies in studying the impact of business continuity management on supply chain resilience, and he has led numerous international research initiatives.
Looking ahead to 2025 and beyond
In 2025 the Thought Leadership team is committed to building on its success by continuing to produce top class original research and industry analysis for our members. We aim to further amplify regional and diverse voices to ensure that our work reflects the global and inclusive nature of the resilience community, its practices, and experiences. This approach will enable us to deliver content that is both relevant and packed with practical takeaways for our community.
We also plan to make our research more engaging and accessible by expanding our content delivery methods. Expect to see a richer variety of formats, including podcasts, webinars, infographics, videos, and interactive digital content ahead. With these enhancements, we’ll make it easier to explore the latest findings and apply them to real-world scenarios.
The team would like to express its thanks to everyone who contributed their time and expertise this year—whether through surveys, interviews, or sharing invaluable insights.
