Privacy statement

The Business Continuity Institute (BCI) takes website users’ privacy very seriously.  Any information supplied via our website will be handled and stored under the latest provision of the UK Data Protection Act.

The BCI is registered under the UK Data Protection Act, which governs the way in which membership data is used by the Institute.   Under the terms of the Act we are able to supply, to third parties, the list of members’ names and addresses for the purpose of mailing publicity material.  We do, however, give each member the opportunity to opt out of receiving this material.

The BCI also sends regular newsletters via email to members with Institute and industry news. Member contact details are published in the members’ area of the website so that members can contact each other directly. Again, each member is given the opportunity to opt out of these services.

Please click here to view the Data Protection Act document each member has to sign when joining the Institute.  If you wish to re-sign this document, please return to subscriptions@thebci.org.

To ensure you are kept fully informed, the BCI head office and its subsidiary offices in USA and Asia, may contact you by mail, email or other means of communication to provide you with information on your requested service or product.  We may also provide you with information, special offers, research, products & services.  If you wish to opt out of receiving such information, please email subscriptions@thebci.org

We will take all reasonable steps to confirm your identity before providing you with details of any personal information we may hold about you.

This Privacy Policy covers all websites operated by The BCI.  You should be aware that communications over the internet, such as e-mails, are not secure unless they have been encrypted.  Your communications may route through a number of countries before being delivered – this is the nature of the internet.  We cannot accept responsibility for any unauthorised access or loss of personal information that is beyond our control.
