Business Resilience & Security Manager
The Business Resilience & Security Manager provides specialist knowledge and guidance in relation to strategic physical security and resilience across the company.
You will advise the board and senior management on current and proposed legislation, responsibilities and company arrangements relating to resilience, event management, physical security and business continuity management. Working with the country's largest water and sewerage company (an area of 5,000 plus miles), you’ll manage a small team of resilience, business continuity and physical security consultants who produce policies and processes, and audit the company to ensure that it is a resilient business operating in the 21st Century.
In this challenging and varied role, you’ll work closely with colleagues to enhance the company’s resilience as well as in partnership with the emergency services, local authorities, the health sector, central government and other water companies - no day is the same.
You will:
- Provide advice and guidance to the board, senior managers and colleagues across the company
- Own and be responsible for business resilience and security policies, processes and relevant procedures within the business ensuring that they are managed, up-to-date and fit for purpose
- Ensure a regular programme of exercises is developed and delivered
- Be responsible for the training of all relevant company staff in their resilience, event management, security and business continuity
Your responsibilities:
- Organise and project manage the annual external audit of compliance with the Security and Emergency Measures Direction 1998 of the water Industry Act 1991
- To be the company's point of contact externally for civil contingencies and security activities
- Manage a small team of internal consultants
- Financial management & reporting on budget
You’ll have experience in emergency planning, business continuity management and physical security in large complex organisations, ideally in industrial operations. You will be a member of a relevant professional association and educated to degree level, preferably with a higher degree in emergency planning, disaster management, security risk management or business continuity. Add to this your knowledge of guidance and legislation about civil contingencies and security, and experience in staff management, budget planning and control, service delivery and training. Communication and influencing skills are needed as well as the capacity to work with minimal supervision, prioritise your own workload and work across departments.
You must have a full driving licence as the role will involve travelling to different locations within the company area and some occasional travel within the United Kingdom.
