ISO 22313 Draft International Standard now up for review

ISO DIS 22313: Societal Security – Business Continuity Management Systems is now up for review.

This new International Standard provides guidance on best international practice to support organisations with the implementation of an effective Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) and is the guidance document for ISO 22301, the new specification standard for BCMS, which will replace BS2599 and will provide a more intuitive framework for organisations to effectively pursue organisational certification.

This new International Standard is generic in its application and suitable for organisations of any size – large or small – and from any sector of the economy. This consultation marks a key milestone to support the uptake and implementation of good BCM practice.

Lyndon Bird FBCI, Technical Development Director at the BCI:

“The BCI is continually working to facilitate and encourage the adoption of good BCM practice in organisations. Part of this work includes the revision and development of new International Standards to provide the necessary frameworks to support the effective and easy implementation of such practices. Providing guidance based on best international practice to support the implementation of a BCMS, ISO 22313 is one key step in this process.

“To ensure that this Standard meets the needs of organisations from every sector of every economy worldwide and provides a truly effective platform for BCMS implementation, it is essential that we get as much feedback as possible. I would therefore urge you to take part in this important review and provide essential, constructive comment to support this vital work.”

The closing date for the consultation is 11.04.2012
