Business Continuity Consultant
Over 25 years experience in IT and business functions, gained primarily in Business Continuity, Information Security (ISO17799) and Operational Risk Management. Also a skilled auditor/reviewer of processes and operations, implementer of key processes and procedures to comply with Business Continuity FSA guidance.
From 2000 to 2002 at S1 UK Ltd, (internet banking software provider), Brian was involved primarily in the implementation of the Business Continuity solution for S1's customers. This was supplied to their first customer within six months. The achievement was to recover the Internet Bank within 34 minutes of a disaster and without Data Loss. Other responsibilities from January 2001 included Audit & Compliance, Risk Management, Asset Management, Business Continuity and Health & Safety. Using the BC software tool 'Strategy' he developed rigid plans across the organisation focusing on the individual departments requirements and rehearsing these with the recovery of the IT services.
In 2002 Brian was involved in the Information Security compliance of the London Congestion Scheme. He Project Managed the Gap Analysis on the available documentation proceeded to up date new procedures where necessary, installed a Badge Access system together with the training and awareness sessions and helped to install a CCTV system following extensive researching of various options.
In 2003 Brian worked on several projects including the development of Business Continuity Plans for a department of the Irish Government involving multipe Business Impact Analysis and Risk Assessments, (from October to March 2004).
Since April 2004, Brian has been working with the Continuity Management Team at Royal & SunAlliance in London in a contract role. Achievements to date, include:
Developed new Policy and Standards in line with new strategy and framework;
Designed new Key Performance Indicators to measure Continuity Management capability throughout the Royal & SunAlliance Regions;
Updated and implemented new Emergency Response and Incident Management Plans to reflect changes in the organisation;
Initiated and carried out Business Impact Analysis across the Groups Head Office functions and updated the Business Recovery Plans accordingly;
Worked with IT to ensure the overall strategy included the Technology Recovery capability to support the critical business functions;
Carried out assessment reviews in Ireland, Scandinavia, US and Canada to determine the level of implementation and drafted reports to Senior Executive on their outcome.
Brian has been a member of the Business Continuity Institute, (BCI) since August 1996.
